I created a series of pole banners for the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association, translating Olympic themes into a cohesive visual system designed to activate public space and strengthen neighborhood identity.

Project Overview

This project explores how graphic design can shape public space through small but impactful visual interventions. Designed for the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association, the Olympic-inspired pole banners transformed the streetscape into a cohesive, engaging, and community-centered visual environment.

Through bold color, repetition, and scalable design elements, the banners create rhythm and continuity throughout the neighborhood. Each banner contributes to a larger visual system that reflects both the energy of the Olympics and the unique character of the Bixby Knolls community.

Each design draws from the colors and cultural identity of a specific country and pairs them with an Olympic sport. These global visual references are connected to local Bixby Knolls businesses, linking international themes with the surrounding community and reinforcing a shared sense of place.

The final banner series activates the neighborhood streetscape, celebrates community diversity, and contributes to a more vibrant and connected public environment.
