What I Did
I designed the visual direction for Solek and Sol, a bottle packaging series rooted in my Guatemalan heritage and dedicated to my mother. This project became an exploration of how packaging can hold memory, culture, and emotion while still functioning as a refined product design system.
Through typography, form, color, and material details, I created two bottles that feel connected yet individually expressive. Each design was developed with intention, balancing visual elegance with personal storytelling. For Sol, I incorporated an embossed Morse code detail that translates a poem I wrote for my mom, turning the surface of the bottle into a quiet, tactile message of love and gratitude.
Project Overview
Solek and Sol explore the relationship between heritage, memory, and product design. Inspired by my Guatemalan background, the series uses packaging as a vessel for storytelling, transforming each bottle into more than a consumer object. The designs reflect warmth, identity, and emotional connection while maintaining the clarity and sophistication of a polished brand system.
Each bottle was designed with careful attention to hierarchy, proportion, texture, and presence. Together, Solek and Sol create a visual dialogue between contrast and connection, allowing each product to stand on its own while contributing to a shared story.
The embossed Morse code on Sol adds a deeply personal layer to the project. By encoding a poem dedicated to my mother into the bottle’s surface, the design invites a more intimate interaction between object and viewer. What may first appear as a subtle texture becomes a hidden message, connecting touch, language, and memory.
The final result is a cohesive packaging series that blends cultural identity, emotional storytelling, and product design into a refined and meaningful brand experience.
